Is White Mage Good? Post-Buffs 100+ Hour Review

It's the Lamborghini of healing in FFXIV. No frills, no bs, no excess nonsense-- this healer plays smoother than silk and it can get you through the scariest things one can see in party finder. White Mage does NOT disappoint!

If I wasn't so attached to barrier healing I would actually be maining white mage. White mage is LIT!

So white mage got it’s buffs now a few months ago and I wanted to cycle back on it and give a long term review and state of it.

Actions speak louder than words I say this as someone who cohealed the entire savage tier with my boyfriend on white mage-- not a single problem in sight aside from some MP pains during early prog where you know hit the fan. Beyond that I myself have taken white mage through the savage fights. Not a hitch. No problem.

So without any reasoning or details if you want my honest opinion? White mage is the get done healer. No , no frills, no tacked on gimmicks. White mage brings the heat. You know I’d argue it’s even a lamborghini of healing. You can pull out all the stops and start to pump max speed out of no where that no one can keep up with and stop on a time. You can force heal your way through a partyfinder and good lord above you know party finder even on the best of days can be hell and I know people are going to feel that.

For real though this might make people mad which you know that’s not where I’m coming from where I say this-- no bad feelings or ill will whatsoever. Genuinely white mage hasn’t been bad all this expansion, even before the buffs. Don’t get me wrong, I think it deserved the love it got and it had very painful mana problems before. Flat out yeah Astrologian did have a better time doing things before and I discussed this at length. But white mage was far from bad. We’re not talking about the good old days of delete monk or initial launch astrologian.

Like I said, my boyfriend is white mage and I progged before the buffs with him no problem. Sure with the amount of hype and stuff people brought up about life’s agonies for P3S I myself was a bit scared when we hit that mechanic but rest assured white mage brought the heat and we got that done easy.

Then with the buffs? Good lord that felt amazing. As someone who cohealed I felt that buff, I felt that buff deep in my.

Lilies on a 20 second cooldown timer from 30 was a 33% increase in the ones you got. This translates into obviously a ton more healing. But more than that, it’s also instant cast, it also has full range of mobility from that, it also costs no MP and makes white mage scale with a stat that almost every other healer goes meh at largely.

Which is buffs to healing magic potency, meaning only spells and not off GCD abilities are buffed by this. White mage with it’s deep free, no DPS loss on GCD spells takes advantage of that and when you get scholar’s fey illumination alongside asylum and temperance out there a white mage like I said before is like a lambo and just pops off from nothing and no one can keep up with that. Afflatus rapture in there get some lilies or even a cure 3 if you’re feeling saucy it’s just bonkers.


But let’s segway that into no frills no gimmicks. Astrologian for the record is far from a slouch in healing, just to be super clear out the gate. Only people snorting their own farts think Astrologian is somehow weak now because white mage got some love.

But what I will say is Astrologian is a more calculated healer and you need to get used to multiple off GCD heal over time effects like celestial opposition or collective unconsciousness or earthly star is an amazing burst heal but ideally you ramp it up.

That’s all actually amazing in it’s own right.

But you know like I say I’m a really basic dude and I love that white mage is clear cut and dry burst heal. Like afflatus rapture is flat 400 potency heal burst upfront. No frills. No gimmicks. If I need more I simply tap afflatus rapture and that adds another 200 potency for 600 potency of burst heal per lily I use.
